Some very exciting news.. I’ve signed my first overseas contract! Although a lot of the information cannot be given out, I’m very happy to announce that I’ll be working in Hong Kong, Mexico & the USA early next year with Jumpseat Productions.
I’ve also been working on set with Duck 66 Films for 3 very long, but fun, shoots for their next horror short ‘Once Bitten.’ Coming out next year and starring Lauren Ashley Carter, expect a lot of blood!
And just like that, MIF 2017 is finished! It’s been a wonderful few weeks with some of the best artists showcasing their work.
Personal highlights for me include Karl Hyde’s (Underworld) Manchester Street Poem, which beautifully displayed the heartbreaking stories of several homeless people, and Party Skills for the End of the World, which equipped you with all the necessary knowledge and skills to both survive and then enjoy the end of the world.
I was also lucky enough to meet and record interviews with many interesting individuals including Tony Walsh and Mary-Anne Hobbs. The only shame is that we have to wait 2 more years until the next festival!
Coming up in the next few weeks I’ll be shooting Once Bitten, the new horror short from Duck 66 Films, tracking the last of Dan Dickson’s EP and bringing you the next Band & Bean: Plenty to be done!
It’s time for MIF again! I’m very excited to be covering many of the events over the next few weeks with Matter of Sound. MIF always throws up many great events and performances, with my personal highlight in recent years being a flash choir concert in Whitworth Art Gallery.
Make sure to follow Matter of Sound on social media to get a flavour of what’s going on!
I’m at the end of what has been a very busy, but very fun, week.
This started with a couple of days on set with Saralian Films for the shoot of their TV pilot ‘Graduates’ which is due to be pitched later this year.
I also worked with Dan Dickson on his upcoming EP. A lot of work has been put into this but it feels as though we’re coming towards the end and we’re very excited to be able to show the finished product off.
I was asked last minute to engineer Jade Mannion’s EP launch at the Sacred Trinity Church. Featuring rapper J Chalmers, and singer songwriters James Holt and Reharbour, the eclectic night was very well received by the audience.
I even managed to sneak in an interview with Jane Weaver for Bluedot Festival. (And successfully managed not to fanboy)
On Tuesday I was at Grindsmith in Media City for the second of Matter of Sound’s Band & Bean sessions. Featuring excellent stripped back sets from Fears Chella, Gazelle and Cassia, the night was thoroughly enjoyable, if extremely busy! Look out for videos from the evening due out later this month.
On Thursday I took a team to film the EP launch of local musician Caitlin Gilligan. Caitlin recently performed as part of our ‘Courtyard Creations’ sessions and so we were delighted to be working with her again. The night started out interestingly due to a missing camera operator and set of lights, but this was saved by the hard work of cinematographer Pete Tomkies as well as some last minute help from some very good friends. The night was extremely enjoyable and the audience loved it. Now we can’t wait to move into post production with it.
